almost, but not quite

© 2010 little papercuts

I'm trying to get back to work. Everything that I've tried to use as a substitute is not really filling the void. I finally dragged out my makeshift light table and I'm determined to finish up some artwork that I had started for my niece while I was pregnant, before my belly got in the way. I 'm not sure if I'll be able to devote enough time and attention to Little Papercuts, but it's a start. I had high hopes that by now I'd be back to work and whipping through orders while the mini papercut watched, content to play on her own and watch from her bouncy chair. That is obviously not the case.

Even though I've found the time to sew, I have come to realize that not having an actual studio space to do papercut stuff (and working in a medium that is prone to fly off the table if someone walks past me at a brisk pace, causing a gust of wind) could become a bit of a challenge.

For those of you who are patiently awaiting my official return to work, I say 'Thanks'. I promise I will return, I'm just not sure as to when that will be. Sorry :( Hopefully it'll be soon!

Hey, as much as I would love your return to be soon, I also sympathize with the new mom aspect. We often wish that our fantasies would play out and allow us to do what we want as the little ones behave how we want, but for some reason it never really happens that way. Your little one (and slightly bigger ones) are the most important right now. We can wait, and it will all come fast enough.

Thanks so much Lindsay, your words were exactly what I needed to hear :)

You're so right, we are going through the exact same situation. Hugs to you and I thank you for your kind words over at my blog. I honestly thought that by now I'd be back working full force! But definitely not the case and so I just have to go with the flow and get work in when I can.
I do have a question....where do you sell your work?

Hi Julie, I was hoping that by now I'd have my website up and running and I would sell and take orders from that. I've been signed up on etsy for a few years now, but never really got my shop ready. For the most part my business took off from word-of-mouth and somewhat by accident. Up until midway through my pregnancy last year, I was taking orders through e-mail on referals. I'm thinking I may need to open my etsy shop soon though, as there has been a great interest in my artwork the past few months:)

Thanks for the info. I can definitely see how you could get so much work on word of mouth alone! Your work is so lovely. Yes!!! Definitely get that shop back up and running, I'd LOVE to see your items!
